Celebrating NAIDOC Week

MQ Health recently hosted an online event for NAIDOC Week focused on this year’s theme, “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud,” which celebrates the unyielding spirit of our Indigenous communities. We were incredibly proud to see Carlie Schofield, MindSpot therapist and Indigenous Cultural Advisor, present on the day.

The event included an introduction and address by Walter Kmet, CEO of MQ Health, a Welcome to Country by Rhiannon Wright, an address by Carlie Schofield, followed by an interview with guest speaker Aaron Taylor, who discussed the significance of this year’s NAIDOC theme for the mental health sector. The event also featured a presentation by WellMob, a key initiative bringing together online resources made by and for our mob.

NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, providing MQ Health and our team at MindSpot with a meaningful opportunity to honour the cultural heritage of our First Nations people, acknowledge their contributions and reinforce our commitment to reconciliation and cultural competence in healthcare.
